Following the successful grant submission to the Everyone Can Play Grant in February 2022, Council identified the need for a specific masterplan for the playground located in Marie Bashir Park.

Council received feedback from some members of the public regarding the inclusive play equipment. The feedback was more in relation to specific needs of infants at the playground rather than the play equipment proposed to specifically meet the requirements of the Everyone Can Play Grant (Inclusive Play Spaces).

Council engaged Insite EM LA to design a new masterplan for the playground with consideration to the feedback already received and also to make playground an inclusive space for all to enjoy. The scope included keeping the community well informed, providing the opportunity give direct input on specific features and also feedback on possible options for the playground.

Council have now received a concept plan. The concept plan includes specific components that were already identified by the community through the feedback Council previously received. The masterplan also includes other components for the community to consider for the playground. All components of the design are to meet the relevant standards for playgrounds including, surfacing, play equipment and free space.

The concept master plan has been designed in a way that specific play spaces like the toddler/junior play space, can be used to support grant applications or constructed when funding becomes available.

A Community Consultation will be held on Tuesday 11 July 2023 from 3 - 5pm.
