NAIDOC Week 2019 Hand Painting

Wiradjuri Country

Known as the “place of many lizards” Narrandera is home to the Narrungdera Clan and is Wiradjuri Country. The Wiradjuri people are the largest Aboriginal group in central New South Wales, by area and population. The people of the Wiradjuri country are known as “people of three rivers” being the Macquarie river (Wambool), Lachlan River (Kalari) and the Murrumbidgee River (Murrumbidjeri) which border their lands. The Wiradjuri people are the first inhabitants of this area and have been living here for thousands of years.

We are very proud of this country and encourage you to enjoy its beauty and heritage in a way that is respectful and considerate of its sustainability.
