Council is excited to report a substantial increase in the number of visitors to the Narrandera Destination and Discovery Hub since its opening in November 2023. With a remarkable 86% increase in visitor numbers compared to the previous financial year, the Hub has quickly become an impressive and well-attended venue, welcoming visitors from near and far.
While most visitors continue to come from within New South Wales, there has been a noticeable rise in visitors from outside the region, including Greater Melbourne and Greater Sydney areas. Additionally, a steady flow of travellers from South Australia, Western Australia, and Queensland have come to the region, with overseas visitation also on the rise as confidence in international travel continues to grow.
The Narrandera Destination and Discovery Hub has been a vital resource for visitors seeking information about the area. Over 50% of visitors request printed material, such as brochures and maps, to help them plan their time in the region. Regional retail offerings have also proven popular, with 40% of visitors purchasing items from the selection of regional products and souvenirs.
In terms of attractions, the big playable acoustic guitar continues to be a favourite photo opportunity, while the Tiger Moth Memorial has also seen strong visitation, especially following its reopening in tandem with the Hub.
Visitors have praised the Hub for its welcoming atmosphere, helpful staff, and comprehensive information about the region. The success of the Hub and its offerings is a testament to the hard work of the team in providing a top-tier experience for those exploring the Narrandera Shire.
