Narrandera Shire Council, in partnership with the Aboriginal Elders Liaison Group, invites the community to come together to celebrate NAIDOC week 2025 at a special opening event on Monday 7 July, from 11am to 12.30pm at Marie Bashir Park, Narrandera.
This year’s NAIDOC theme, “The Next Generation: Celebrating Strength, Vision and Legacy”, recognises the enduring strength of First Nations people and the powerful role of young leaders carrying culture, identity, and community forward into the future.
As part of the celebrations, Council and the AELG will endorse the next round of recipients to be honoured on the Wiradjuri Honour Wall, paying tribute to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to community, sports and culture.
The event will feature a performance by the Yiramarang Dance Group, and guests are invited to enjoy a light morning tea following the formal proceedings.
Mayor Neville Kschenka said, “This year’s theme highlights the legacy of those who have come before us and the vision of the next generation. It is a time to reflect, to honour, and to look ahead with hope and pride.”
Council encourages all residents and visitors to join us in this celebration of First Nations culture, resilience, and leadership.
