Narrandera Shire Council is excited to announce the upcoming opening of the Wiradjuri Honour Wall, a celebration of the rich culture and heritage of the Wiradjuri people. In anticipation of this significant event, we invite local Indigenous artists to contribute their creative projects for display at the Narrandera Destination and Discovery Hub.
The Wiradjuri Honour Wall aims to pay tribute to the stories, traditions, and contributions of the Wiradjuri community. We believe that showcasing local creative projects will enhance this celebration and provide a platform for Indigenous voices and creativity.
What We Are Looking For:
- Creative projects that reflect Wiradjuri culture, history, and identity.
- Creative projects, including visual art, textiles, sculptures, and multimedia installations.
- Pieces that can be displayed at the Destination and Discovery Hub during the opening event.
Submission Guidelines:
- Artists are encouraged to submit a brief description of their artwork along with the display piece by Wednesday, 16 October 2024.
- Selected pieces will be displayed during the opening ceremony on Saturday, 19 October 2024.
- Please include your contact information and a short biography with your submission.
This is a unique opportunity for local Indigenous artists to share their work with the community and be part of an important cultural milestone. We aim to create a diverse and vibrant exhibition that honours the heritage and creativity of the Wiradjuri people.
How to Submit: Please send your submission to nyoka.prior@narrandera.nsw.gov.au or deliver it in person to Council's Community Services Building.
We look forward to celebrating the talent and stories of our local Indigenous artists at the Wiradjuri Honour Wall opening. Together, let's create an unforgettable experience that honours our shared history and culture.
