Narrandera Shire Council proudly announces the initiation of a major maintenance project for the Bundidgerry Walking Track, underscoring Council's dedication to maintaining the natural charm and accessibility of one of the region's most cherished outdoor destinations.
This maintenance project will cover an estimated 2.4km of the Bundidgerry Walking Track, extending from the Lake Talbot boat ramp area through to the Rotary lookout and concluding at the Rocky Water Holes Bridge.
The project aims to:
- Enhance Accessibility - Improve the track to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all visitors from start to finish.
- Address Erosion - Tackle and rectify existing erosion issues to preserve the track's condition for future generations.
- Implement Preventative Measures - Introduce strategies to protect the track from future environmental challenges.
In line with our environmental stewardship goals, the maintenance work will adhere to rigorous standards designed to minimise impacts on native flora and fauna. Council has partnered with TRC Trails, a contractor renowned for their eco-sensitive approach to projects.
Additionally, we are committed to honouring the cultural heritage of the area. Maintenance activities will be conducted in consultation with Local Indigenous groups to ensure that culturally significant areas are safeguarded and respected.
Upon completion, the upgraded Bundidgerry Walking Track will offer enhanced facilities for walkers, joggers, and nature lovers, fostering health, well-being, and community connection.
The maintenance work will commence on Thursday, 1 August 2024, with anticipated completion by October 2024. While the track will remain open throughout the project, certain sections may be temporarily inaccessible during brief periods. We appreciate the community's patience and understanding as we work to enhance this beloved track.
This project is proudly funded by the NSW State Government Crown Improvement Program.
