Council’s proposed Climate Action Strategy is currently open for feedback and comment from the public.
The Climate Action Strategy is the result of a detailed investigation into the Council’s energy use across the Shire with the aim to identify areas where Council can reduce energy costs by reducing our energy demand, increasing the use of onsite renewables and reducing carbon dioxide emissions. This is achieved by a combination of energy efficiency, behind-the-meter solar, buying clean energy and sustainable procurement.
The document identifies Council’s existing energy use and “carbon footprint” and provides for efficiency, renewable energy, and emissions reduction plans.
These measures are prioritised into short and medium-term action plans, long term action plan and continuous improvement plan.
